NuKids | Highball Competitions

We had the NuKids competition on the Friday just gone! It was a brilliant round, and the setting was done by our very own Guy Copland, with a few extra members of staff even got involved! The blocs were widely thought to be very good, and most will remain up until late January if you want to give them a go!

Now that NuKids is over, we look forward to Round 3 of the Winter Bouldering League, which will be coming on December 29th, and will be set by Nathan Phillips, winner of The Big flash 2017!

The write up for the night is located here! Head over to have a look at photos and read the interviews and report on the competition and the scores!

Rab Asylum Jacket Review | Highball News

We stock some excellent Rab gear in our Highball shop, and so we got a brilliant review from our very own James Potter:

I’ve been wearing down products from Gilets to light weight jackets for quite a few years now, but for the past year have been wearing the Rab Asylum jacket which is now my absolute go-to.

Now, Rab has been kicking about since around 1981, where Rab Carrington set about his business in Sheffield creating high-end down products, from sleeping bags to jackets. Since he himself would always be found on ground breaking expeditions ranging from the alps to the amazing Himalayas, this man knew exactly what was needed from his gear, and it shows in his production of their products even to this day.

The asylum, although not the lightest of jackets, is an incredibly warm and durable garment for those cold winter days where warmth is a must. The Asylum jacket also has a very retro feel, with the colour scheme that is the reason it caught my eye from the beginning. The material is purtex classic, which for us climbers is amazing as the fabric is super tough. The hydrophobic down fill of 650 means that not even a bit of rain can dampen your day! The fit of the jacket is also a huge bonus, I find other jackets tend to sag either in the front or back and can leave you feeling a bit shlumpy, this one, however, fits snug to the body keeping a nice flat shape but leaving enough room for a jumper underneath; it also has an adjustable hood to keep you feeling cosy when you just want to snuggle up.

If Your looking for that jacket to keep you looking sharp and still feeling warm and snug but practical enough around the rock and clambering about, this one is for you.

I give the Asylum a 10/10 Jimmy rating

HIGHBALLSHOP

New MOON stock! | Highball Shop

Check out our Highball shop for the latest delivery of MOON. The MOON brand was established by English climber Mr. Ben Moon- I wonder where he found inspiration for the name!?

During the 80s and 90s, Ben played a pivotal role in driving forward the level of climbing in the UK and worldwide. He was the first to climb a route at grade 8c+, which was Hubble at Raven Tor, though it is now considered a 9a! The creator of the infamous MOON Board can often be found climbing in the Peak District.

MOON have a wide range of products available, from chalk bags to bouldering pads and even clothing. Not to mention MOON products also make great Christmas presents!
