I was first taken out climbing at the age of 14, This first insight was at Burbage North with notable accents of Left and Right studio climb, Brooks layback and Amazon Crack. I was hooked from the get go, and at this point didn’t even know what bouldering was. I would nag and nag the group of people I climbed with to take me out at every opportunity. All these weekend sessions were on the gritstone crags of the Peak district. I lost climbing for a fair number of years due to one thing or another, but found it again in 2010.

I now have 2 amazing children, both very young, so climbing time is currently difficult to come by, but over the coming months and years I hope to get back into it fully myself and introduce the rest of the family to a sport that, I hope, will take them all over the world and provide experiences many don’t get.

Thomas has completed the Climbing Wall Award, Foundation Coach Award, has attended the BMC Fundamentals 1, 2 and 3, physical Training for Climbing and Coaching Juniors Training Workshops. He is working towards his Development Coach, Single Pitch Award and Climbing Wall Leading Award having done the training days for these.

I shall leave this for you all to decide for yourselves. Editors note: I think that speaks volumes about Thomas.

Gundogs, Shooting Clays and Game,Growing Veg, 3D printing, Farming, Scuba Diving, Bouldering.

For climbing and hanging around I would have to say Burbage North, However being anywhere in the burbage valley is amazing. My favourite place to boulder is Franchard Isatis In Fontainebleau.

I’m not sure if favourite is the correct term but the best memories I have from my Trad days are Gingerbread at Lawrencefield were on getting the high foot for the rock-over, I look down to see my belayer taking pictures of me!!!!! (he was stood on the rope so all was well). The other being High Neb Buttress and standing at the crux move for what seemed like an eternity before doing the move on what now is one of my fondest climbing memories.
