DECEMBER BLOG | CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS | SCOTTISH WINTER TRIP
Christmas is almost upon and during this month we have a fair amount happening at Highball!
The School Holidays bring loads of excitement for the children, so we have rammed our calendar with plenty of different sessions. From Bouldering Clubs, to Highball Plays and for those who want to have a go with the children private and group Taster Sessions.
Opening times throughout the Festive Period will be changing as we get closer and closer to Christmas, find the opening times here.
There has been a great response to last month’s post about the upcoming Scottish Winter Climbing Trip. We’ve already filled one Winter Skills Course, and have pencilled in another. So, if you’ve been thinking about it, and haven’t yet spoken to Mike yet, nor confirmed your interest, get in quick.
The date for next year’s trip is 23rd Feb to 3rd March – You can read more about how it works here.
Mike will also be hosting a Q&A on Monday 17th December from 8pm.
Recently you may have noticed we introduced a new ‘Zone 5′ and new ‘Circuit 0′ within the centre.
Briefly, this change to our route setting enables us to make better use of our huge Competition wall, whilst also adding some much needed easier climbs for complete beginners. All the information on this recent change is found here.
Last year we added a benefit to the V12 Membership which enabled members to bring a new guest every month for free. As we love Christmas and we love climbing, we thought we would open up this ‘gift’ to all our customers for the whole of December.
That’s right, for one month only, everyone who has registered as a climber or boulderer (an independent climber) can bring a friend for free. Read more here.
Ladies Night runs on the third Friday of every month. It is a chance for women from all walks of life to come and get involved in bouldering and climbing, and ideal for meeting like minded people.
As a female, you will have the opportunity to get highly discounted introductory sessions, which are great for beginners and those who want to supervise any friends, family, and children. We also have free coaching sessions where you’ll receive professional advice on technique, or just some encouragement to advance that bit further (or even up to the next grade).
We have postponed our ladies night this month due to opening hours for the festive period, however Ladies night will be back with a bang in the new year on the 18th Jan with discounted Ladies Bouldering Inductions, Ladies Auto-Belay Inductions (must be a competent Boulderer), and Ladies Coaching sessions. Spaces are limited so book online before they fill up!
Book online by heading here on our website or give us a call on 01603 513513
Sam and Adam have whipped up a lovely looking menu for the festive period,. mixing up our usual bites of delight into these mouth watering ideas:
Comp Nights will normally include a food special for the night. For Round 1, the kitchen crew made some amazing kebab and flatbread take away boxes! They haven’t given any hints on what’s in store for Round 2 so keep your eyes peeled.
Our Nukids Competition takes place on the 14th December.
This social competition is aimed at those starting out in the sport, allowing them to enter a social competition where most climbers are at a similar level. To find out more info head to the Nukids information page here.
Round 1 of Winter Bouldering League kicked off on Friday. We had one of our Flash Champions setting for the opening round, Dave Barrans.
It was a great set (as usual), the classic thuggish bouldering style alongside those super delicate technical slab climbs. For a full write up of the opening round head here.
Over the last few months you may have seen the odd fancy black and white photo of a member of crew floating around. We’ve created a ‘Crewdem’ Page for all you guys to have an insight into what our staff do within their own time, alongside their personal climbing experiences!
Giving you guys the opportunity to learn a little more about the crew, they’re an alright bunch I suppose.
We’re just short of a target of 100 reviews on Trip Advisor, and have been awarded a centre of excellence! If you have 5 minutes, and feel we deserve a review, pop on there and give us a quite write-up! You’d be doing us a huge favour.
