Following a recent trip to Manchester for the BMC’s climbing injury symposium, I thought it would make sense to do a little write up on some effective ways to warm up.
Climbing in all its forms is a very enjoyable, challenging and rewarding activity. It develops and maintains core muscle strength, improves balance and co-ordination, burns plenty of calories and fat, and quickly improves muscle tone.
We want the problems and routes across all our climbing and bouldering walls to be of a high standard. This means they need to be challenging, interesting and fun. They also need to be graded correctly – or as close as we can get!
After a long pleasant summer, the recent mini cold snaps will have come as a shock to those who feel the cold. To others, it signals 'grit season', the time of year when the cooler rock provides maximum friction.
