Ass stell blumun chelly entut!
Spring may be here but luckily the temperatures have remained friction friendly and lower than average. This is good for climbing. It means the holds have more friction – as long as they’re getting brushed – the rubber works better and we’re all able to climb without developing sweat patches – at least most of us anyway. Hire shoes are also being returned dry; this is another indication of cooler temperatures.
We’re in a transitional phase between old route setting and zonal, and we’re also starting to plan for the the bigger events later this year; The Little Flash, The Big Flash, Summer and Winter Bouldering Leagues and making sure we’ve booked all the route setters in well in advance.
May the force be with you…
WE’RE NOW ON TripAdvisor!
TripAdvisor has become the ‘go to’ website for reviews. It helps people make decisions on whether to go somewhere, do something, or stay somewhere. Having been open for nearly 5 years, we’re a little behind on where we want to be and, with the summer holidays not far away, it would be great to have some more reviews to help encourage people visiting the area come and give us a visit too.
If you can spare just a few minutes to write us an honest review, we’d really appreciate it? What’s in it for you? Well put it this way, the more visitors we get over the summer, the more Thomas has a case for asking Mike for a bigger budget for new holds and volumes for the new zonal setting!! And, let’s face it, we can all get psyched for that!
MAY BANK HOLIDAY
We’re open 10:00 > 18:00 😉
SUMMER OPENING HOURS
From May 2 we’ll be open from 10:00am Tuesday to Friday until the end of August. Depending on your feedback we may extend this to September and event October. Let us know what you think….
SHOP OFFERS FOR MAY
This month we will be offering you lucky people a 20% discount on all DMM climbing hardware, so if you’re looking to update that tired trad rack ,or looking to get your first rack under way, or maybe like so many of us you just want some new shiny things, then now is the time to get it. Whether it’s Dragon cams, slings, carabiners or a harness it’s all on offer. See behind reception for what we have in stock. We will also be offering 20% off all climbing bags so you have something to put your shoes and chalk bag in, so they don’t end up in our lost property!
Our journey to Zonal Setting has begun. Zone 1 (Rab slab and E9 wall) was reset last week by Jason Pickles and so far the feedback has been very good to excellent. The zone now has some additional volumes on the walls which helps break up the otherwise blank faces and will hopefully give you some new and interesting challenges. We have a store of volumes ready for the changes to zones 2 to 4.

JUNIOR CLIMBING – HIGHBALLPLAY & CLUBSESSIONS
We’ve made a little tweak to our booking calendar to create more capacity for young climbers after school via our revamped Highball Play and Club Climbing Sessions. Both these sessions are pay as you go with no commitment and are great for introducing young children to climbing or, in the case of club sessions, begin to introduce some coaching in a fun relaxed environment. ADULT CLIMBING – MORE INDUCTIONS, TASTERS AND COURSES

Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who took part and also to all the volunteers and crew who helped to make the final run so smoothly. Once again, the Nukids Masters proved to be a huge draw with over 150 entries over the 2 sessions. The final itself was amazing, and the setting from Rob Napier and Jack Gould were fantastic if however maybe a little hard for the men.
